Tanning – Sunshower

 

Researchers have found that the bodies of women / men with high levels of vitamin D are biologically younger – the main 

source of the vitamin comes from exposure to sunshine (UV rays) which is also produced by UV sunshowers / sunbeds.

 

Also, insufficient vitamin D is now being recognised as a contributor to some cancers and other chronic diseases such as 

multiple sclerosis and diabetes. The action of sunlight on skin is our primary source of vitamin D. However, the 

Northern Europe mean we get relatively little sunlight, moreover our most recent over cautious protection from the sun using sun-blockers, 

short summers in 

which is made worse by our increased indoor lifestyle, has reduced our intake of vitamin D considerably. As a result the majority of 

Northern Europeans obtain insufficient vitamin D for optimum health and are at increased risk of chronic disease.

 

The conditions that the benefits of vitamin D are associated with are:

·      Bone Health: including osteoporosis and hip factures;

·      Organ Health: including high blood pressure, hypertension and heart disease;
